Wells: ‘we have to be prepared’

Adelaide 36ers head coach Mike Wells says spending a full week on the practice court has come at exactly the right time for his side.
The 36ers have just completed a tough stretch of four games in 11 days, winning three and Wells said this week was time to refocus and prepare for Sunday’s home clash against Tasmania.
“It’s a different phase for our team and our group to be able to evaluate ourselves, to teach and correct and focus on us a little bit more,” Wells said.
“You get to look at different playing combinations, defensive alignments and things like that.”

Adelaide will face a JackJumpers side who play Sydney Kings on Friday night in Launceston, but Wells said preparing for a side that plays a game before Sunday’s battle is normal.
“That doesn’t affect our preparation as much (as you would think), you are laying your game plan out four or five days before and work out what we want to do during the week,” Wells said.
“Obviously, we will all watch that game on Friday night, and that will factor how we practice on Saturday.
“Teams are showing you who they are along the way now, we will have a really good idea, if they do something different, we will make the adjustments for it.
“Every team is different, and I think for our group it’s best we stay focused on us and can control what we can control.”
