NBL1 SOUTH 2024: Next level dreams await

Stars will be aiming for higher honours, while others will be looking to go one better when the NBL1 South season tips off this week.
Headlined by the superstar move by Adelaide 36ers star shooting guard DJ Vasiljevic, the NBL1 South conference is jam packed with NBL stars.
Vasiljevic made the move from Diamond Valley Eagles to join Waverley Falcons for the 2024 season, with the hope he doesn’t play out the full season.
The 190cm sharpshooter will be hoping he misses a lot of the Falcons games, especially with Australian Boomers camp coming up next month.
Vasiljevic has his goal firmly set on making the final 12-man roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and if he achieves that goal, he won’t spend much time in the Falcons colours.
But the early rounds are pivotal for Vasiljevic, who will gain crucial game time by leading the Waverley backcourt.

Joining Vasiljevic at the Falcons will be NBL24 development player Fraser Roxburgh, who has moved back to Victoria and was key part of his state’s success in the Under 20 National Championships earlier this year.
Roxburgh joins the Falcons after winning the 2023 NBL1 Central championship with West Adelaide Bearcats.
Adelaide 36ers swingman Nick Marshall is back in Mount Gambier and will wear the Pioneers colours for a fourth straight season.
The Pioneers fell at the preliminary final hurdle in 2023, eliminated by NBL1 South and National Champion Knox Raiders on their home court.

Mount Gambier have retooled their roster this season, with the return of former Adelaide 36ers point guard Tom Daly, while NBL24 development player Akech Aliir has made the move from NBL1 Central club North Adelaide Rockets.
Aliir has already impressed Mount Gambier head coach Richard Hill across the pre-season and expect Aliir to complement the Pioneers roster as the starting centre this season.
