Adelaide 36ers captain Mitch McCarron said it was exciting to be back out on court as the club’s NBL24 pre-season campaign kicked off on Wednesday.
The new-look roster was put through their paces in a number of physical testing drills led by Head of High Performance Nik Popovic.
“It’s good to be back, we don’t start on court until August 1, but it’s good to get the testing all done so we are ready to go,” McCarron said.
“It’s great to get everyone back in the same room again, we are still waiting on a couple of spots, but we have got everyone here and working hard, preparing for the season.”
The roster went through a number of drills, including standing and running jump, agility and the much-talked about 20-metre sprint test.
“As you get older, you get to know how to go about the testing, and maybe how to do them more efficiently so those results are a little better,” McCarron said.

“But Pop (Nik Popovic) does a great job of getting everything organized and everyone will be ready to go.”
“Everyone looked good out there which is a good sign and I’m sure there were some fast times in the 20-metre sprint.’
Isaac Humphries and Jason Cadee returned to the Adelaide 36ers Arena for the first time and McCarron said it felt like the pair hadn’t left.
“Looks like we have a bunch of great guys this year, it’s great to have Ice (Isaac Humphries) and Jase (Jason Cadee) back at the club,” McCarron said.
“Isaac is in a great state of mind, and Jase has been playing some great basketball lately.”
