Marinovic signs on for NBL25 season
Adelaide 36ers are excited to announce the signing of Marko Marinovic as senior assistant coach for the NBL25 season.
Marinovic joins the 36ers with an extensive playing and coaching background in Europe and he is currently an assistant coach with the Serbian national team heading to next week’s Paris Olympic Games.
The 41-year-old said the opportunity to come to the NBL is a huge step in his coaching journey.
“I’m very excited at this opportunity, it’s a great thrill for me,” Marinovic said.
“I have watched the NBL back home and it’s a very strong league.
“Together with Coach (Scott) Ninnis and Coach Mike (Wells), we want to do something special.”
GM of Basketball Operations Matt Weston said the addition of Marinovic to the coaching team is a massive coup for the club and the league.
“We wanted to bolster our coaching team and Marko has global knowledge of the game,” Weston said.
“To put in extra coaching resources to this team can only benefit our trajectory.”
After a 19-year playing career, which included representing Serbia at the 2006 FIBA World Cup, Marinovic started his coaching career at Borac Čačak in 2019 and spent last season as head coach of Čačak94 Quantox in the Serbian Basketball League.

Head coach Scott Ninnis said Marinovic joining the coaching staff gives the 36ers tremendous international experience.
“Marko coming on board gives us a great coaching group from different backgrounds, which will be beneficial for us moving forward,” Ninnis said.
Marinovic will arrive in Adelaide after the Serbian Olympic Games campaign finishes in Paris.
