Adelaide 36ers centre Isaac Humphries has put up big numbers in the past four games, but is totally focused on team success

Big man Isaac Humphries has become the centre of attention for the new-look Adelaide 36ers offense under new head coach Scott Ninnis.

The 211cm centre has been on a scoring tear in the past four matches under Ninnis, averaging 19 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and has become an inside presence.

Humphries said after the mid-season coaching change, he looked at his own game and what he could do for the side moving forward.

“When our team went through all of our shifting, I took it upon myself to control what I could control and that is how I play,” Humphries said.

“Scotty has made an emphasis of playing inside and using me a lot more and that has definitely contributed to the way I have been playing.

“I just want to come in and do the best I can for the team and I think I’m showing that every game so far.”

Besides the increased numbers on the stats sheet, Humphries is totally focused on the 36ers getting more victories.

“It’s not too front of brain for me to add stats and all that kind of stuff I just want to come in and play really hard and play the best I can for the team and that’s rolling in to putting up good numbers,” he said.

Humphries, who had an equal game-high 24 points to go with five rebounds, two steals and a block in Thursday night’s 100-82 loss to Perth Wildcats at home, said the team had its struggles.

“It was frustrating out there, offensively we couldn’t figure out what we were doing and defensively sometimes we would do our very best but they were just making a lot of shots,” Humphries said.

“It was just a weird night for us, very frustrating, very disappointing.”

Adelaide will be back in action on New Year’s Eve when the 36ers travel to WIN Entertainment Centre to play Illawarra Hawks, catch all the action live and exclusive on ESPN via Kayo Sports.
