Montrezl Harrell to remain in Adelaide for entire NBL25 campaign

Adelaide 36ers are thrilled to announce the signing of Montrezl Harrell for the remainder of the NBL25 season.

Harrell, who initially joined the 36ers as a Nominated Replacement Player last month, will remain in Adelaide after agreeing to terms this week.

The 201cm power forward said he is delighted to stay in Adelaide and will now have the opportunity to focus on the rest of the NBL25 campaign.

“The organisation has shown nothing but love for me ever since I have arrived here and I’m excited to see what we can do this season,” Harrell said.

“We have been showing some great improvement recently, and we need to keep building now and moving forward.”

Adelaide 36ers Executive Chairman Grant Kelley described Harrell agreeing to terms  for the remainder of NBL25 as a coup not just for the 36ers, but the entire National Basketball League.

“Trez is a great signing for not only for 36er fans, members, and sponsors, but also for Aussie hoops fans generally, further entrenching the NBL’s reputation as the second-best league in the world,” Kelley said.

Harrell’s agent Darrel Comer said Harrell has big plans for the NBL25 season with the 36ers.

“From the moment we reached out to Adelaide about the possibility of Montrezl joining the 36ers and the NBL on a short term deal, they have been nothing short of first class,” Comer said.

“Montrezl worked very hard to get himself healthy and in shape. We are grateful for the platform to showcase his results and as his agent, it’s a joy to see his love of the game restored in the NBL.”

Adelaide 36ers GM of Basketball Operations Matt Weston said to keep Harrell for the rest of the NBL25 campaign was a great coup for the club.

“To have Montrezl commit to us is a great result not only for the club, but for the entire competition,” Weston said.

Weston said with Harrell committing for the rest of the season, the club had to make the difficult decision to deactivate Alex Starling from the roster.

“Alex is a tremendous player and a fantastic human, but with Montrezl committed to staying, there is a logjam at his position.”

The Club and Starling are in discussions for Alex to possibly continue to be employed at the 36ers in an off court role.
