Point guard Kendric Davis stars, but 36ers go down to Brisbane Bullets

Kendric Davis starred again but it wasn’t enough as Adelaide 36ers fell 111-90 to Brisbane Bullets at the Entertainment Centre on Tuesday night.

In front of a 10th straight sellout crowd of 9457 people, Davis scored a team-high 32 points to go with eight assists, but the visitors led at every change in the 21-point result.

Montrezl Harrell added 16 points to go with nine rebounds, while Jarell Martin scored 14 points with five rebounds.

Isaac Humphries (eight points, six rebounds) opened the scoring from a sweet Harrell assist, then Davis scored in the open court for the first two baskets of the contest.

The Bullets responded with a 12-5 run to take the lead before Harrell threw down a huge slam dunk then connected from downtown to tie the game at 14-14.

Harrell and Davis combined for 18 first quarter points, but the Bullets took a 24-23 lead into the first break.

Davis continued his scoring spree, swishing two more three-pointers as Adelaide regained the lead at 34-33.

The Bullets regained the lead before Nick Marshall (six points) swished a three-pointer, then Harrell gave the home side back the advantage 41-40.

Brisbane went on an 8-2 run at the back end of the second quarter as the Bullets took a 51-48 lead into the main interval.

Keanu Rasmussen swished a three-pointer to open the 36ers’ scoring in the third quarter, but the visitors then opened up a 10-point lead at 65-55.

Martin got involved at both ends of the floor, Marshall swished another three to cut the margin back to six points.

But the Bullets kept the lead through Casey Prather (36 points, five assists) as Brisbane took a 78-70 lead into the in final 10 minutes.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Lat Mayen (six points) and Martin saw the 36ers cut the margin back to 11 points, but the visitors were too strong down the stretch.

Adelaide will be back in action on Saturday night, when the 36ers host Perth Wildcats at the Entertainment Centre from 7.30pm ACDT.
