Adelaide 36ers sign Antonius Cleveland
The Adelaide 36ers are excited to announce the signing of Antonius Cleveland on a two-year deal.
The 28-year-old, 195cm shooting guard joins the Sixers after a standout season with the Illawarra Hawks where he averaged 14.2 points, 2.27 assists, 6.57 rebounds, and was named the NBL’s Best Defensive Player for the 2021-22 season.
Cleveland’s shooting percentage in the 2021-22 season was 47% from the field and combined with his strong defensive presence, makes him a dangerous, versatile addition to the 36ers roster.
Originally from Memphis Tennessee, Cleveland graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and was their leading scorer in both his junior and senior years. He then went on to gain several years of NBA experience with the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, and Portland Trailblazers.
Adelaide 36ers Chief Executive Officer Nic Barbato is thrilled to have Cleveland join the Club.
“We are extremely excited and privileged to have Antonius and his family join us at our Club. He is the type of exciting and highly skilled player our fans will enjoy watching”, said Barbato.
36ers Head Coach CJ Bruton is looking forward to working with a player of Cleveland’s calibre.
“It’s great to have Antonius as a 36er. He’s coming off a fantastic NBL season and is a high-quality player with an excellent basketball IQ. This signing shows the Club’s intent to compete for the NBL23 title”, said Bruton.
Antonius Cleveland joins Mitch McCarron, Daniel Johnson, Sunday Dech, Kai Sotto, Hyrum Harris, Nick Marshall, Anthony Drmic, and Kyrin Galloway on the 36ers roster for the 2022-23 season, with further basketball department and player announcements to come.
